Intriguingly classified as “RTS vs. RPG”, Heroes of Annihilated Empires is a project that seeks to incorporate both genres rather than combining selected elements. It first came to our attention in the latter part of 2004. At the time, it was still early in development, but we managed to obtain a fair amount of information from the team at Kiev, Ukraine-based GSC Game World. For instance, it’s the first part of a planned trilogy for which the studio has created an original fantasy-themed setting where the primary races stand on the threshold of a conflict that could destroy them all.
Within this environment, the goal is to provide two types of play experiences that can be combined if you wish, but need not be. One possible approach focuses on a hero character that can reportedly become powerful enough to face and defeat entire armies. In the other, you assume the role of a military commander charged with leading forces that can eventually number many thousands of units.
