When I was creating this map, a little man kept shouting something about "impregnable fortresses" in my ear.
Our first test games confirmed that I obviously succeeded only too well. An attack on the enemy on this map has to take place on several fronts at the same time if you want to get through to some extent. Even if you concentrate your entire attack force on one of the three passes through the central mountains, it is almost impossible to seriously endanger the enemy. Even strong horsemen can easily be
easily held in check in the narrow passes by cannons and small outbursts of one's own cavalry.
To win, mastering the right plateau is almost indispensable, as the main coal reserves are located there (see Resources...) and it also proves to be extremely valuable as a second front in any naval battles (the plateau is too high for frigates or warships to fire on). Speaking of naval battles ... in attack, frigates and galleys are preferable to battleships, which are extremely difficult to control, and a quick breakthrough with yachts and galleys into the enemy hinterland can have devastating effects..."
