Cossacks map: Battle of Kircholm
Description: Battle of Kircholm in 1605.
"Welcome!
This is a "re-enactment" of the famous battle, commanded by our great hetman, Jan Karol Chodkiewicz. Above the river Dzvina, near Riga and just next to a village Kircholm met a powerful army (10 thousand) of the Swedish king Charles and Polish, few troops (2 thousand). How it ended, everyone knows, and in the meantime I invite you to the game!
Not everything is as it really is, the units can be discussed, etc., but tell me, is it not ridiculous that the Poles have at their disposal 3 types of cavalry? I have arranged everything so that the playability is as high as possible and the level of difficulty is high (but that it is possible to win, but whether it is possible I do not know ;-))
Units, terrain, map, etc. are developed according to Jerzy Besala's book "Wielki Hetmani Rzeczypospolitej". And now a short explanation: I have not used only Polish and only Swedish units. There are even Swedes in the Poles! Below is a list of units and their equivalents:
-Polish armoured men, not hussars -Swedish Rider
-Commanders of cavalry units - 18th century cuirassiers
-J.K. Chodkiewicz - Ukrainian Hetman (on the left wing)
-Sich Cossacks - I do not know whether they were part of the Polish light cavalry, but I have included them in any case
-Prussian dragoons are Kurland cavalry (also cavalry with firearms) of our ally, the Duke of Courland, Friedrich Kettler (they have barges near the shore, I do not know how they crossed the river Spear, maybe by a ford?)
- cholpi and priests are journeymen. Those near the forest raised dust to deceive the Swedes that the real army was coming.
- King Charles of Sweden is... Russian Vytiaz :-). His bodyguard consists of 18th century pikemen, and a few officers
-I have also used Austrian Croats as light cavalry (in order to replace the raiders; during map testing it turned out that Poles have ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE against dragoons, which at first I intended to use as raiders. The reason for this is that they shoot too often, in a few minutes knocking out the hussars fighting the infantry)
Swedes are about 2.5 times more
Poles - 1800, more cavalry (hussars dominate)
Swedes - almost 4000, many 196-man infantry units, quite a lot of cavalry.
Kircholm - is a Polish town, with mills, cottages, a blacksmith's shop and a church.
