According to a report by Czech Vortex, a fire has broken out at the GSC Game World. The incident happened on Thursday at the company’s headquarters in Prague. The damage was estimated at $70,000 (1.5 million Czech crowns), but most importantly, there were no personal injuries.
“Fortunately, no employees or workers of the office were injured in the fire, which is a great relief… Although the fire was successfully extinguished, one floor of the office now needs to be completely refurbished. Further details of the accident are still under investigation.”- Olga Ryzkho in a statement to Vortex.
The fire affected one floor of the headquarters, the damage is significant, but it is not yet officially known what exactly was affected. Apparently, the game hosting servers are fine and available, but any loss in the data centre responsible for backups could be a major drawback for an active development, namely S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
A GSC Game World spokesperson on their Discord channel was optimistic:
“No anomaly, not even a ‘Burner’ will make us stop in our pursuit of our final goal. We’ve dealt with worse than that before. This is fine.”
We wish the developers all the best and a speedy recovery. The community is with you, including the CossacksHQ group!
